Wrap Up: Running in 2009

21 races in year 2009, 9 half marathon, 7 quarter marathon and 5 under distance races (6km to 10km). Among this 21 races, 9 races at Penang state, 5 in KL/Klang Valley, 3 in Perak, 2 in Kedah, one in Seremban and Singapore.

First half marathon at Bidor Half Marathon, I am lucky, completed my race with timing same as my bib number, 145, but 13 sec over. Completed half marathon with sub 1:45 become my aim for this year.

NB Pacesetters15km, meet up a lot friends during the races, having fun with all of them.

Malakoff 26km Penang let me found another nice running route in Penang.

SCKLM become my next target for sub 1:45, but mission failed with 5 min over...

Completed 3 half marathons within 3 weeks continuosly, from SCKLM, Ipoh International Run and Seremban Half Marathon, but timing become slow and slow....

For the very first time, run under heavy rain for about 10km during Ipoh International Run half marathon.

Shape & Men's Health Night Run 2009 (11.5km), first quarter marathon which I not manage to get finishing medal, the last medal (75th) was given while I still another 500 m to reached finishing line.

Ran 2 half marathon within 3 days, ASJC half marathon on Friday follow by adidas KOTR on Sunday, almost Killed On The Roundabout at Shah Alam area, but still completed the 22km with sub 2 and manage to received Certificate of Achivement with official time. Consider very lucky if compare with last year, 9 sec over the qualify time and just received Certificate of Participant only.

adidas KOTR also mark my 21 time 21, my 21st half marathon.

Two race within two days, Lembah Bujang Jamboree (11km) on Saturday and Kebun Bunga Charity Run (6km) on Sunday, the worst thing is still FOC OT during that weekends after the races.

Mizuno Wave Run 2009, first time change to UPM campus, all the way hilly route up and down, really killing..... but lucky still can ran with 4:49 pace for 10.99km.

Powerman Malaysia 2009, Team 2 Plus 2 in Men's Relay category (11km and 10km), my team-mate (64km cyclist) wish to get better results compare with last year (4th position) and get podium finishing, but end up with drop to 5th position....but at least the RM150 cash prize still belong to us.

PBIM half marathon, mark my 10th anniversary to run on the Longest Bridge. Sub 1:45 still my aim, push very hard until 18km, but my stomach condition after 18km make me failed to achive this target, with 1 min 17 sec over.

SCSM, my first oversea half marathon, also last half marathon for 2009, putting a lot of hope on this race and hope sub 1:45 can achive by 2009. Pia from starting until the end, crossing finishing line with 1'43:26..... dream for sub 1:45 came true during this race.....

Last race in 2009, Larian Valdor (11km) at Sg Bakap, Seberang Perai Selatan, discover another nice place for running....

Total running mileage accumulated (races and training) from 31st March 2009 to 29th Dec 2009: 1510.55km, with 133 hrs 15 min 28 sec.

Date/Time: 6th Dec 2009 @ 6.45 am
Category: Half Marathon (Men Open)
Bib: 40971
Distance: 21.32 km (by Garmin FR405)
Timing: 1'43:26 (gun time) *PB*
Average Pace: 4:51 min per km

My first oversea half marathon. Putting a lot of hope in this race after my sub 1:45 target failed during PBIM 2009 two weeks ago.

Flag off at 6:45am, 1 hour 15 min after the Full Marathon flag off, and clear the cloud of runner.

I set my target to completed first 10 km with average 4:45 pace, and I make it with 46 min 58 sec, first target achieve ! I believe that I should able to do 1:45 if I maintain my average sub 5:00 pace for the remianing 11.1 km. Although my 10 to 19 km are slightly over my target, but overall still satisfied, completed first 19 km with 1'32:37. Meet a lot 10 km fast runner after 19 km, make me follow their pace and run with better pace. When reached Esplanade Drive, saw the 10 km Women are waiting at the starting point for flag off for their race. Turn in to Fullerton Road from Esplanade Drive, crossing the bridge, pia and turn right to St. Andrew Road, saw the finishing line in front of me, digital timer shown 1:42:59 when I was about 100 m to reach finishing, I know my sub 1:45 dreams come true for this race ! Crossing the finishing line with 1:43:26, average pace at 4:51 min per km.....

My split time:

Race Report: Shah Alam adidas King of The Road 2009

Location: Stadium Shah Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor
Date/Time: 2nd August 2009 @ 6:30am
Category: A - Men's Open
Bib: A846
Distance: 21.81km (by Garmin FR405)
Timing: 1:58:10
Average Pace: 5:25 min per km
Position: -

Started at Stadium Shah Alam, slightly different with last year route, but already know that this will be a tough race for me.

From the starting point, run all the way uphill for about 1.3km, still got energy to pia at that moment, but following by another uphill at 5km to 6 km was really killing me and cause I not manage to complete first 6km within 30 minute, I know I'll suffer at the end. Uphill and down hill for most of the route, I try to speed up my pace whenever during downhill route, completed 11.5km within first hour.

Meet 11km runners at Kayangan roundabout at 19.5km.

The finishing point located inside Stadium Shah Alam track, after turn in to Stadium Shah Alam main entrance from Persiaran Sukan, run thru the underpass entrance and run into the track, crossing the finishing line with 1:58:10, actual distance clock by my Garmin Forerunner 405 show 21.81km........

Completed the race with sub-2, as per expected, dare not aim for personal best, because I just did my Alor Setar half marathon two days before, but end up with Personal Worst pace at 5:25 min per km for this year race, 5 sec slower than ASJC half marathon two days ago....

5 refreshment stations along 3.8km, 9.6km, 13km, 16.5km and 19km, all served water and isotonics drink, great to see that adidas have improve the refreshment station after been complaint by runner on last year event. 2 sponging station at 7km and 14km as well.

Meet Yin just after reached the finishing point

Meet Tey outside the stadium, thanks for snap this photo as a proof that I m in KOTR 2009
